James Stewart was born in Scotland in 1842, the second child of James and Mary Stewart nee Drummond.
Isabella Henderson was born in Milnathort, Scotland in 1843 to William and Catherine Henderson nee Glass.
James and Isabella married at Strathmiglo in June 1868. They had seven Children: William 1869, Catherine 1871, Isabella 1872, John 1874, Eliza 1876, Margaret 1878 and Jemima 1880.
They are pictured right in about 1912, possibly farewelling the William Stewart family who were emigrating to Australia. The little dog was named Bruce.
James and Isabella lived their whole lives in Milnathort, where Isabella died in September 1926 and James in November 1930. James reportedly collapsed and died while tending his vegetable garden.
James and Isabella had seven children: William, 1869–1935, married Eliza-Jane Bartlett, had four children and emigrated to Australia.
Catherine, 1871–1955, married Robert Alexander and had nine children. The family emigrated to Australia at about the same time as William and Eliza and they lived in the same area of Queensland.
Isabella, 1872–1951, married George Maclean and had five children. George died from injuries sustained in WWI.
John, 1874–1883, died aged nine.
Eliza, 1876–1879, died aged three.
Margaret, 1878–1880, died aged two.
Jemima, 1880–?, married William Page and had three children.
