Percy Joseph was the son of Bill and Alice Parry of Gosford, NSW. He was born in Gosford NSW. He married Olive Olsen in 1929 in Gosford and they had seven children. Percy worked as a carrier and florist before taking over the 'Florilands' nursery from his brother Henry. Percy and Olive built the nursery into an icon of its time and they are both recognised  among the pioneers of the Australian wildflower growing industry. They were both awarded an OAM in 1981 in recognition of their contribution to the industry. Percy died in 1986 aged 84. Olive died in 1987 aged 80.
